MID-CENTURY MODERNIST

MID-CENTURY MODERNIST

This conceptual magazine project celebrates the visual language and creativity of Mid-Century Modern design. Drawing inspiration from the post-WWII design boom, the publication explores the bold colors, atomic motifs, and sleek minimalism that defined the era’s aesthetic. Through a combination of editorial layout, illustration, and period-accurate typography, the magazine visually narrates the cultural shifts that shaped modern graphic design. Stylized illustrations of black cats, iconic lighting fixtures, and retro patterns serve both as homage and playful critique, while ad-style layouts (like “ME & WHO?”) parody vintage furniture ads to reflect the era’s quirky optimism.

This project aims to fuse historical analysis with design storytelling, reimagining how Mid-Century Modernism might look in a contemporary editorial context.
